Traveling by Train

The Institute for Advanced Study is located in Princeton, New Jersey, in the central part of the state. It is approximately 50 miles (80 km) southwest of New York City and 45 miles (74 km) northeast of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Trains from North and South

If traveling to Princeton by train, you may take AMTRAK or New Jersey Transit into Princeton Junction station.

If the AMTRAK schedule into Princeton Junction is not convenient, you may also take an AMTRAK to the Trenton station and then take a New Jersey Transit train to Princeton Junction station.

Philadelphia's SEPTA Regional Rail also runs service to Trenton station, where you can then take a New Jersey Transit train to Princeton Junction station.

From the Princeton Junction station, you may either take a taxi (at the cost of about $20 USD) or the New Jersey Transit shuttle train (referred to as the DINKY) from Princeton Junction station to the Princeton station. The Institute is a 20-minute walk from the Princeton station.
