What is...?

The tropical Grassmannian Trop G(2,n) and its positive part are combinatorial objects revealing fascinating connections between tropical geometry and particle physics. In particular, they play a relevant role in the CHY integral formulation of scattering amplitudes. The possibility to extend this physical paradigm to higher Grassmannians motivated Cachazo, Early and Zhang to introduce the chirotropical Grassmannian and the chirotropical Dressian, one for each realizable uniform oriented matroid (or chirotope). After introducing the fundamental objects, I will focus on algorithms for computing Dressians and chirotropical Dressians, as well as on their realizability. This is joint work with Nick Early.
