Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center

The Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center documents, collects, and sustains the history of the Institute for Advanced Study. We provide access to the diverse stories at the center of Institute life, inspire creative and critical engagement with our past, and promote the value of advanced research for the future.

Our collections are available to all who are interested, including those both within and outside of the Institute community. Located in the Annex of the Historical Studies-Social Science Library, the Shelby White and Leon Levy Reading Room provides a physical space for researchers. Archives Center staff are available in the Reading Room from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist with research.

We are also happy to provide digital spaces for individuals to engage with our materials from afar. We welcome those interested to explore the links below for more information on accessing collections, digitized materials, and support services. We encourage those requiring additional assistance to contact us at archives@ias.edu.
