Concerts are held in Wolfensohn Hall on the campus of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, unless otherwise noted. Performance times may vary, so please be certain to check the schedule, and please plan to arrive early for a good choice of seating.
The concerts attract capacity
audiences every year, and the Institute makes available as many tickets as possible for
distribution beyond the Institute community once internal requests have been fulfilled. There is no charge to attend a concert, but
tickets are required. There are also free concert talks related to the concerts, held on Friday afternoons of many of the concert weekends. Please check the schedule for more information.
Concert tickets are free and must be requested in advance according to the guidelines below:
*Institute
community: Faculty, Members, Visitors, and staff should email
.edu and indicate performance date preference and whether you require
one or two tickets. Include your office location, and tickets will be
distributed through campus mail. Friends of the Institute may register via the
Events Calendar link under "Friends Only" at www.ias.edu/about/friends/ or by
calling 609.734.8228. Your tickets will be held at the door. Should you call in
or email to request tickets, please be sure to identify yourself as a Friend.
*General
public: The Institute makes available as many tickets as possible for
distribution beyond the Institute community once the
community requests have been fulfilled. Ticket requests from the general public
for the eighth blackbird concert will be accepted beginning December 8, 2008.
Ticket requests for the Trio Solisti concert will be accepted beginning February
27, 2009. Please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to "Institute
Concert Series" at the above address. Indicate performance preference, whether
you require one or two tickets, and include your phone number. You may also
email your request to
beginning on the dates outlined above. For
email requests, your tickets will be held at the door. Once all tickets have
been spoken for, we will develop a wait list with tickets numbered in the order
in which the requests are received. You
will be notified if you are placed on this list. Once all ticketed patrons are
seated, we will accommodate those holding wait list tickets by number, as seats
are available.

Directions from Downtown Princeton Take Nassau Street southbound and drive through light at University Place (next to Princeton University Chapel on your left). Take next left turn onto Mercer Street southbound. At the 2nd traffic light (Lovers Lane/Olden Lane) turn left onto Olden Lane. Proceed for ½ mile, then turn right into Einstein Drive, which is the entrance to the Institute (you will see Fuld Hall - the building with the clock tower above it – as you approach Einstein Drive on Olden Lane). Follow signs for concert/lecture parking.
Directions from Route 1 Take Route 1 to Alexander Road west. Follow Alexander Road to the end; at stop sign turn left. At the 2nd traffic light (Lovers Lane/Olden Lane) turn left onto Olden Lane. Proceed for ½ mile, then turn right into Einstein Drive, which is the entrance to the Institute (you will see Fuld Hall - the building with the clock tower above it – as you approach Einstein Drive on Olden Lane). Follow signs for concert/lecture parking.
Directions from Route 295 northbound Take Route 295 northbound to Exit 8B (Princeton Pike north). Follow Princeton Pike north to your 3rd traffic light (Lovers Lane/Olden Lane); turn right on Olden Lane. Proceed for ½ mile, then turn right into Einstein Drive, which is the entrance to the Institute (you will see Fuld Hall - the building with the clock tower above it – as you approach Einstein Drive on Olden Lane). Follow signs for concert/lecture parking.
Directions from Philadelphia (approx. 1 hour) Take Route 95 north into New Jersey to Exit 8B (Princeton Pike north). Follow signs for Princeton Pike north. Once on Princeton Pike North, proceed to your 3rd traffic light (Lovers Lane/Olden Lane); turn right on Olden Lane. Proceed for ½ mile, then turn right into Einstein Drive, which is the entrance to the Institute (you will see Fuld Hall - the building with the clock tower above it – as you approach Einstein Drive on Olden Lane). Follow signs for concert/lecture parking.
Directions from Central New Jersey Take the New Jersey Turnpike south to Exit 9 (New Brunswick). After paying the toll, bear right and follow signs to Route 18 north. Merge left to the middle lane. When the lanes divide, keep left while following signs for Route 1 south. Take Route 1 south approximately 16 miles to Alexander Road west. Follow Alexander Road to the end, at stop sign turn left. At the 2nd traffic light (Lovers Lane/ Olden Lane) turn left onto Olden Lane. Proceed for ½ mile, then turn right into Einstein Drive, which is the entrance to the Institute (you will see Fuld Hall - the building with the clock tower above it – as you approach Einstein Drive on Olden Lane). Follow signs for concert/lecture parking.
Directions from New York City (approx. 1 ½ - 2 hours) Take the Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, George Washington Bridge or the Goethals Bridge to New Jersey and follow the signs to the New Jersey Turnpike south.
