Field of Study: Philosophy
Research Description: James Doyle is working on a book on Plato’s Gorgias. This will give an analysis of the main arguments of the dialogue, and an account of the use to which Plato puts the dialogue form, as leveling an implicit critique of Socrates’s conception of philosophical method and his associated doctrine of “intellectualism.”
