Research Description: Aihe Wang is researching the underground art communities during China’s Cultural Revolution. Centered on the Wuming painters and other cultural groups active in the 1970s, she is exploring how their everyday practice generated alternative communities, and how human creativity engendered visions and forces for social transformation.
