[M] School of Historical Studies
Field of Study: Philosophy, History of Science
Research Description: Anne-Lise Rey is exploring how many thinkers of the first half of the eighteenth century, often from different perspectives, attempted to combine two incommensurable paradigms: Leibniz’s natural philosophy, whose physics is based on metaphysics, and modern science, as embodied by Newton who “does not imagine hypotheses.”
