Research Description: Jeffrey Gould is exploring the problematic relations between the Latin American left and its grassroots bases. In particular, he is focusing on minor utopian experiments promoted by peasants and workers in El Salvador during the 1970s and the ways in which the left leadership reacted to those movements.
