Research Description: Adam Sabra is studying an aristocratic family in Ottoman Egypt (ca. 1500–1800). Arguing that families can be considered historical actors, he will attempt to explain the success of one family in advancing and preserving its political, economic, and cultural status over a period of three centuries.
