Un-Biased Cosmology from Biased Tracers, a workshop held at the Institute from September 24–26, 2012, explored the astrophysical issues associated with simple bias models, which ignore crucial clustering properties and can neither describe data nor simulations to the desired percent level precision. Participants probed a deeper understanding of clustering with discussions of Assembly Bias, Extended Press-Schechter and Peaks formalism, Perturbative Descriptions and Effective Field Theory Related to Galaxy Formation, and Requirements for upcoming surveys.
Marilena LoVerde, Member in the School of Natural Sciences (2009–12), discusses halo bias beyond CDM at the level of large-scale linear bias and its implications.
