Information for 2013-2014 Visiting Scholars
Planning Ahead - Your Arrival
Apartments for first-term and full-year Members will be available starting September 1. Since most apartments are occupied over the summer and must be cleaned and prepared during late August, September 1 is the earliest possible date of occupancy. Members should plan to arrive between September 1 and September 23, the beginning of term.
Please note that the Institute will be closed on September 2, in observance of Labor Day. However, the Public Safety Officer will be on duty in Fuld Hall and will distribute apartment key packets. The officer is regularly available on evenings and weekends to distribute key packets.
The Princeton public schools will reopen on September 9, and Institute children may be formally registered after your arrival. Children are not required to be in attendance on the first day of school, and the schools are accustomed to families arriving throughout the year.
Second-term Members may begin to arrive on January 1. Second term will begin on January 7 (second term for the School of Mathematics begins January 13). We regret that we are unable to accommodate arrivals earlier than January 1 since apartments assigned to second-term Members must be cleaned and prepared between December 26 and December 31. Please note that the Institute will be closed December 24 through January 1.
Practical Information
It is anticipated that practical information will be ready for mailing beginning in June 2011. This mailing will include details about the Institute's facilities, health insurance, children's schools, the Princeton community, transportation options, and directions to the Institute.
Housing Assignment
Housing assignments will be finalized during the summer for first-term and full-year visiting scholars and during the fall for second-term scholars. The housing assignment mailing will include your apartment's address and telephone number, along with a floor plan and map highlighting the apartment's location.
