Helmut Hofer
| One of the founders of
the area of symplectic topology, Helmut Hofer's research focuses on symplectic
geometry, dynamical systems, and partial differential equations. His fundamental contributions to the field
have led to a new area of mathematics known as "Hofer geometry."
