Christian Habicht | Christian Habicht is the leading authority on the history of Athens in the centuries between the fall of the Athenian Empire and the establishment of the Roman Empire. His Athens from Alexander to Antony (1990, English ed., 1997, Paperback ed., 1999, French ed., 2000, rev. 2nd ed., 2006) is regarded as the standard work on the subject. A distinguished epigraphist, Habicht has extended the study of inscriptions to include evidence from decrees, lists, reports, and coinage in furthering the understanding of Athenian public life.
